If I sound ungrateful, I’m not. I know I’m blessed. If I sound tired, I earned that because I’m drained in ways I don’t always have the words for. I’ve lived most of my life in the tight squeeze between the lower middle‑class and the working‑poor, where you learn to stretch a dollar, a smile, and your sanity. People say struggle builds character. They never talk about how it builds silence. This memoir is the part where I finally try to break my silence.
